I have been feuding with the Huffington Post for several months now. I’m sure the Huffington Post is completely unaware of that fact, but there it is. It wasn’t because of all of their clickbait listicles and slide shows. It wasn’t because of their obsession with celebrities and lust for scandal. I enjoy a good scandal as much as the next guy. I thought their obsession with how stars were dressed, as if somebody rich and famous wasn’t allowed to go out in shorts and a T-shirt, was a bit petty, but that wasn’t it.
No, they changed their sign in system somehow and I found it hard to establish a new account because they kept saying ‘somebody already has that name’ and I thought ‘yeah, that’s me, you assholes’ but I couldn’t get signed in they were impossible to contact and I got pissed off.
So, I searched around for other sources of news. I like the Guardian, but life is more than politics.
Anyway, I’ve been getting most of my news lately via facebook, if it’s anything important, people will link to it or be talking about it and there’s no shortage of other sites.
I’ve gotten in the habit of scrolling through Yahoo News occasionally, like when looking for a topic for this blog, the articles are lined up one below the other, with just enough of a blurb, it scans easily. But, damn, their right wing bias is as bad as Fox News.
The headline, on an article from the Daily Caller, and I won’t link to the article because it was so blindingly stupid, was “Michelle Obama Uses Racial Slur and Gets Away With It.” O-ho, I thought, they’ve finally found the legendary ‘whitey’ tape. (I didn’t really think that)
Anyway, turns out she said something like “We’re trying to keep the insurance companies from gypping people.” So, the rest of the article was devoted to explaining why gypped is a racist term, as if all their teabagger base is suddenly real concerned with etymology.
The story was not “Outcry from the Roma Community.” In fact, the story didn’t cite, much less quote, anybody that was actually outraged. Just the person at the Daily Caller who wrote the article. Non story.
So, I guess she did get away with it. HaHa! Sucks to be you, Daily Caller and Yahoo News!
