Well, we backed out on buying the place in Kokovice because, even though it was a bargain price, we can’t afford it and there’s no guarantee we’d get enough students ready to come that far out on a regular basis, so now we’re concentrating on our “merger” with SPUSA.

It’s not really a merger.  Nothing is on paper, they are a non-profit, there are almost bound to be money issues in future, if there is ever any money.  Actually, I think there will be.

They’ve got the location of all locations.  Right next to Namesti Republiky Metro station, almost directly in front of the tram stop, on Na Porici, across from Palladium, where my wife works.  There’s a kebab shop just a couple of steps away.  Then there is that Viennese Style café on the corner, the one that was in “The Illusionist” and then all the jewelry stores.  We bought our wedding rings on Na Porici – it must be a good omen.

We’ve got an extensive contact list and a lot of students who will want to come back for the group lessons.  They’ve got a pretty extensive mailing list, too.

We both have a tradition of Thanksgiving parties.  I am seriously looking forward to that.

We have the newspaper.  Next month all of Page 8 will be to announce the new school and maybe we’ll print off a couple of hundred extra copies of just that page to tape up to walls, poles and billboards.  I don’t really like that kind of advertising, because it feels a little bit dirty, like graffiti, but I ease my conscience by being conscientious about not putting them in pristine places and, the main thing, I know it works.

If that’s not enough I’ll stand between our front door and the tram stop, handing out fliers and hustling people in.

So, I’m confident that we’ll have a good relationship with SPUSA.  But I still want to have the school in the country and I’m bummed about turning down Kokovice.  One good thing came out of the visit.

I think my wife is interested in the idea of getting a place for that now.  So, we’ve got to start searching the internet.
