Tomorrow’s the big day. The group courses are starting again. The timing couldn’t be worse. Helen is sick as a dog (Sam was last night and even today, just after we got to Kotelsko, totally tossed his cookies), so everybody is having the same problem and that’s the heat. The drive back was particularly worrying, because Helen kept having to pull over and barf.
Anyway, I managed to get everything we needed for our grand opening, we have to break our promise of champagne and strawberries because, oops, no strawberries to be found. Already out of season. So, we’re having watermelon and cherries. The cherries are from the trees at the cottage in Kotelsko.
I’ve been running back and forth, though. Two grocery stores before I found a watermelon, 3 before I found paper plates and cups. Had some trouble with the keys and had to call Stepanka for an explanation. I’m surprised if she doesn’t think I’m an idiot. Anyway, I’m pretty happy with Stepanka. Think about it. She barely knows me, was introduced to me by Callum, who I’ve known for a long time but don’t really know well, and she hands me the keys and I’m wandering around the school by myself at 9 in the evening.
Grotty fridge. Also, we’re in the wrong room. We do have the front room, which is cool, but the room at the very back is the biggest, has comfy chairs around a conference table in place of our schoolhouse wood chairs around a slightly warped table, and a view of Na Porici and right into Palladium, instead of our grungy coutyard.
I’m jazzed, but nervous. What if nobody shows? What if we get more people than we can handle? (not likely) I’m guessing we’ll get 12-15, about an even mix of old students and people responding to the fliers and pamphlets. If we get 5 to sign up on the 1st day, we’re off to a good start.
