Legoland was pretty amazing.  A lot like Disneyland, but with Lego blocks.  As you go in, the first thing you see is a bunch of little Lego cities, they had the Danish Royal Palace, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, some village in Norway, an airport, and so on.  Then we saw Mt. Rushmore, the big Indian, did the boat ride that included Abu Simbal, some Southeast Asian temple, Osaka, the U.S. Capitol, the Acropolis and a couple of other things, it was like a little world tour and I wonder, what could be done along those lines without the unreasonable expectation of doing it all with Lego Blocks.  Then we saw what they called a 4 D show “The Adventures of Clutch Powers,” which was pretty good 3d with some some blowing smoke and temperature variations and vapor in the air and stuff- we were all pretty impressed.

Then the kids discovered the rides.  It really wasn’t that hot of a day, but Sam went straight for the rides where the signs said “Beware!  You Will Get Wet on this Ride.”  First was the Pirate thingy where you had water cannons on your boat for shooting at the people “on shore” but they had water cannons to shoot back at you as well.  It was a hoot, but I don’t think Sam was impressed by my attempts to talk like a pirate.  Then there was the Viking thingy which was a very light whitewater raft thing, with a short elevator ride up to a not very steep water slide.

One good thing, for me, about having little kids is that I’m not really into the big, adrenalin rides.  If it’s suitable for a 7 year old, I’m probably satisfied with it.

Well, we did a lot more things, there was the fireman’s competition where we failed miserably, there was the monorail, there were the Safari cars, but the kid’s favorite thing was the play in front of the castle, which was a story of a princess, her kind hearted but greedy father, a good knight and his servant and an evil knight, and involved a lot of people falling into the water.

It was really incredibly stupid but we had to sit through it twice and it’s what the kids still talk about.

Then we got caught in the rain and drenched on the way home but that’s another story.
