Yup. Ken Mehlman, former head of the Republican National Committee, the guy who decided to make an absolutely humongous issue over gay marriage in the 2004 election – don’t talk about the wars, don’t talk about the constitution, don’t talk about Bush’s numerous foreign policy blunders and for God’s sake, don’t talk about the economy – just talk about men marrying men and maybe men marrying dogs -that Ken Mehlman- has admitted that he is, in fact, gay as a maypole, queer as a 3 dollar bill.
Of course, many of his detractors have been saying that for years. Partly just because he’s a viciously homophobic Republican and they all seem to be gay (Larry Craig, Ted Haggard, Mark Foley and many, many more) and partly, I guess, because somebody actually knew something. Bill Maher said it a couple of years ago on national TV. Ken Mehlman is gay. It’s good to see Bill Maher vindicated. I like Bill Maher. He’s sort of a complementary version of John Stewart. Stewart is a comedian who does some pretty incisive political commentary. Maher is a political pundit who is sometimes pretty funny.
Anyway, Mehlman says he is glad that he came out and he is now a “happier and better person.” I disagree. Happier, maybe. Only Ken Mehlman knows for sure. But better? No, Ken, you are still a lying, hypocritical, selfish, greedy, opportunistic, hateful, nasty, cruel, corrupt and basically downright evil son-of-a-bitch. You helped to get George Bush elected and re-elected. You brought an incredible amount of misery into this world, and you profited mightily from it.
You will never be a better person until you are dead.
