Keeping it Positive

I spend far too much time reading political blogs, which should give me lots of ideas to fill up this space every day, but I want to avoid sounding too negative, and I certainly don’t want to get into any detailed discussions of economic issues because that’s beyond my understanding.

When I was a kid, my friend Alex’s mom (actually it was his aunt, but that’s not important to the story) had a plaque on the wall of her kitchen which said “If you’re so damned smart, why ain’t you rich?”  It made a great deal of sense to me then and it makes sense to me now.  Since I am not rich, I am obviously not an economics expert.

But mostly I just don’t want to sound too negative.  The main topic of conversation over at Wonkette is Bristol Palin’s upcoming appearance on Dancing With the Stars and there were many humorous comments and insightful observations, like how is Sarah going to deal with all the gayness of the show, and I left a few choice sarcastic bon mots of my own but, like I said, enough with the negativity.

It was a lovely autumn day, crisp and clear.  Saturday, didn’t have to work.  My sister-in-law was over for a little while, with two of her 3 kids.  Patrick is the same age as Isabel, and he’s a little spitfire.  Adam is just a baby.  She left the middle one with grandma.  It was a lot of fun.  I don’t see why people think it’s hard to keep kids entertained.  Adam was very happy if I let him grab my fingers while I made sounds like a motorcycle, and for Isabel, Patrick and Sam it was as easy as letting them jump on me.  That is their favorite game.

Then, they took the kids out and I had an afternoon to myself during which I actually got a couple of things done, as well as finding some time to read and watch a crappy movie on TV in English without any interference.

It has been a great day.
