The Big Lie

All of the “pundits” are saying that the Republicans are going to make gains in the November mid-term elections.  They say that the Republican base is fired up, the Democratic base is demoralized, that there is an enthusiasm gap.  They say the country wants change.  They say the party that has the presidency always loses seats in a mid-term election.  They say the only question is how big the Republican win will be.  They are all saying this.  And they are all full of shit.

Yes, the Republican base is fired up.  They live in a state of permanent rage.  They still claim that Barack Obama is not a U.S. citizen, they are angry because he uses a teleprompter, likes Dijon mustard and is aware of the existence of Arugula.  That is precisely how angry they will be in November, and every single one of them will cast their vote.  Sometimes for a Republican, sometimes for a teabagger.  In Colorado and Florida, and maybe in Alaska and Delaware, that will definitely be two different people.  Yes, the Democratic base is demoralized.  Obama is not nearly as far to the left as we’d hoped.  But, faced with a clear choice, we, too, will get out and vote.  The issue will, as always, be decided by those in the middle.  I suspect that those in the middle will vote for the candidate who is not certifiably insane.

That pretty much sinks Sharron Angle, who objects to high school football teams in Nevada wearing black, because it is Satan’s color.  It pretty much sinks Rand “aqua Buddha” Paul, who wants to keep out immigrants by building a high tech fence – underground.  It could cause serious problems for Linda “Queen of All Star Wrestling” McMahon.  Her opponent may be a lying weasel, but he’s fairly normal.

The biggest reason I think all the pundits are wrong, though, is because I think they are flat out lying.  They work for mainstream newspapers and large TV networks, which all are owned by wealthy Republicans, mostly Rupert Murdoch, who is an evil old man living on pure spit and bitterness and refusing to die because he knows the devil is waiting to drag his soul down to hell.

They have a direct interest in a return to Republican power, and lying is just second nature to them.

Thank you for that marvellous description of Murdoch.

True. I fear a Republican return to ‘crusading’ against the ‘axis of evil’ would also have grave repercussions…again.
