I got called out on Facebook this morning. I had written something along the lines of “all Republicans, by virtue of still being Republicans, are racist, war-mongering, evil people.” The reply was something along the lines of Jesus Christ, all this political shit gets on my nerves.
She was right. Not everybody is ready for that conversation early in the morning.
Still, I think what I said is basically right and I was reminded of it again with the headline over at Huffpo about secret jails.
Their biggest fan
For 8 long years, Republicans supported war, unprovoked war, massive spending on war, unlimited war without regard for civilian deaths, use of chemical weapons (white phosphorus), wiretapping without a warrant, suppression of free speech (NYC, 2004 Republican convention, protestors herded into barbed wire enclosures), unlimited detention without trial and torture. Torture. The evillest thing the Germans and Japanese did in all the movies (not to say there weren’t plentiful instances in real life, but our knowledge of the history of that time is filtered through movies and our parents stories.) The thing that all the evil scientists do in the movies as they cackle maniacally. What all of the villains try to do when they capture Batman. The evil villains.
This is not just a difference of political opinion. If you were a Republican during the administration of Bush the younger, you supported evil. If you are still supporting Republicans today, if you are an unrepentant Republican, then you are still evil.
