Remember, Remember the 5th of November

Before there was 9/11 Never Forget!, there was Remember, Remember the 5th of November.  I think the two incidents have a lot of similarities.  That is, I believe they were both inside jobs.  That’s right.  Guy Fawkes was framed.

Now, there is a massive amount of evidence that 9/11 was an inside job.  You might say that I’ve got no evidence that the gunpowder plot was an inside job and you’d be right, but that is precisely the amount of evidence anyone else has that Fawkes was guilty or that there was, in fact, a plot to blow up Parliament.  Chanting a silly rhyme for the last 405 years does not make it true.

The fact that the “official versions” point to terrorist plots in both cases means nothing.

Rulers lie as often as they tell the truth.  They lie with the ease that you or I would say “pass the salt, please.”  That is, often, how they came to be rulers.  This has been true from the time of ancient Ur and probably before that.  The first caveman who ever killed his tribes leader in the night and then blamed a roaming lion became the next leader of his tribe, got all the cavewomen pregnant, and passed down the lying and treachery gene to all future generations of leaders, both inherited and elected.

In September, 2001, George Bush had been president for 8 months, and he was not terribly popular.  James had been king for about two years at the time of the so-called gunpowder plot, and he had his fair share of enemies, too.

Bush was following the very popular and successful Bill Clinton.  James also had some big shoes to fill.  I’m not saying he actually wore Elizabeth’s shoes, although there were rumors and some called him Queen James.

George Bush wanted an excuse to start a war against Arabs.  James wanted an excuse to imprison, torture and kill Catholics.

Guy Fawkes confessed after being tortured.  Sound familiar?

There’s one big difference.  James I is generally regarded by history as a fairly good king,

He Was the Patsy

because he didn’t destroy all of Elizabeth’s good work and didn’t kill more Catholics than was considered socially acceptable at the time.   George Bush will never get that same level of respect.
