Hockey

Just took the kids to a hockey game.  To make a long story short, the game itself was quite entertaining, but getting into and out of the arena and riding the metro on the way home is a pain in the ass.

It was not bad family entertainment for the price.  400 kč for the four of us, less than the cinema.  Of course, we spent another300 on snacks, but you can do that at the cinema, too, and then 200 on a team scarf for Sam, but that was Christmas money from his great-grandmother and had been pretty much designated specifically for that purpose.  If you don’t have a scarf, you can’t twirl the scarf.

The line for tickets was surprisingly not that long, but it was unbelievably slow moving.  What do people talk about when they get to the

Sam wants to grow up to be just like these guys

head of the line?  Whether you need 2 seats or 22, you tell the lady in the window what you want, she tells you how much it costs, you pay, get the tickets and move on, right?  There was one guy up there negotiationg for about 10 minutes.  It didn’t matter, in the end.

We got to the head of the line and asked for two adults and two kids tickets and the lady said she didn’t have any.  Then she said just in the fans section, which means the crazy face painters section, which was a bit more involvement than my wife and I were looking for, but we knew Sam would like it.  Then, there was a wall of people waiting to get in, metal detectors and plenty of jostling, I’m particularly pleased that Isabel took it in her stride, because I was getting a little bit claustrophobic.

But our seats weren’t in the crazy face painters section, just right adjacent to it and it was a pretty exciting game which our team won 3-1.  The kids loved it.
