Just watched a clip of Bill O’Reilly interviewing, if you can call it that, an Atheist. It was pretty horrifying.
Never mind the fact that O’Reilly interrupted and talked over his guest (somebody Silverman, don’t remember the first name), kept using the term “insult” after the man quite clearly explained why it is not an insult to religious people to say that organized religion is a scam, as he had done on several billboards. His two main points were a) this is not directed at the rank and file go to church on Sunday types, but at the leaders of the world’s religions and b) how can it be insulting if it’s true?
Anyway, then O”Reilly came up with this gem: “I’ve got proof that God exists,” he said, or words to that effect. “The tide comes in. The tide goes out. Never a miscommunication. How else do you explain that but God” (again, I’m paraphrasing, but it was something close to that.) His guest gave a reasonable answer, saying it didn’t matter if he could explain it or not, maybe Thor casting thunderbolts or something, but he missed the hot zinger.
You explain that, Mr. O’Reilly, by the moons gravitational pull on the earth, which also quite possibly explains the 28 day cycle of menstruation, werewolves and periodic increases in madness and crime. The existence of tides is no more evidence of God than is the rising and the setting sun, the opening of flowers in spring or the migration of birds. Things, throughout the universe, happen in patterns, happen in connection with other things and happen for logical, scientific reasons.
Another thing is that O’Reilly kept saying that Silverman was insulting him by saying that he was stupid , for believing in God. Mr. Silverman remained a gentleman throughout. I do not feel the same constraint. Bill O’Reilly, you are a fucking moron.

I don’t believe in BORe’s belief in God.
He has a job, he’s paid to speak a certain way to a certain audience.
He’s paid to act stupid. He’s paid to make people who tell the truth look like the bad guy.
He has demonstrated immoral, sexist-pig behavior and a propensity for lying.
It seems like he has common ground among many God-peddlers.
(I won’t say all)
I think you’re probably right
to call bill o’reilly (notice, no caps) a moron is to insult morons. The Flying Spaghetti Monster is displeased. Aside from Pirates, it is a little known fact that the FSM has a keen (not to say spicy) interest in morons. I pray that your heathen soul is touched by His Noodly Appendage. RA-men
True. Bill OReilly, Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and other outspoken, arrogant, rude Republicans have inspired my new motto: “The way you treat other people speaks so loud, I can’t hear what you say”. As long as such people speak of “God” and “his will” to justify their opinions/desires, they can insist they are ‘right’ and thereby justify their greed. Science, equality of humanity, ‘natural forces’ threaten their God-given ‘right’, even duty, to suppress others less ‘worthy’. I do not want to ‘take’ money from the super wealthy to give to the poor, but rather to prevent such a disparity in incomes in the first place. This would tone down the arrogance of the Right, and lift the suppression, sickness and depression of the poor in the first place.
@Jean. I hope when you speak of “God” that you’re also including every other religion in the world, and not just Bill O’Reillys’ religion which is Christianity. If you’re going to throw “God” under the buss (I’m going out on a limb here and assuming you were referring to the Christian God as so many people in the United States likes to pick on) you should also throw along all the other God’s & deities from all religions around the world. That’s a whole heck of a lot of people (Billions) that believe in something else than your small minded point of view. *Facepalm*
@joe <–notice lower caps. No one likes to be called a moron, you moron. You insult your own intelligence, if you can even call it that. Enjoying your noodles? RA-men. Oh you clever girl, you. *Double facepalm*
My suggestion for you both is to travel around the world and experience different cultures and religions. See how people live. Interact with them. Because having a tiny mustard seed as a brain isn't productive for the American culture. Science has a place in everyone's lives, of course, just as religion does as well. If you bash one religion, you bash them all, in a sense. As Jean said "As long as such people speak of “God” and “his will” to justify their opinions/desires, they can insist they are ‘right’ and thereby justify their greed"….pretty much the entire world does this, in their own ways, including people who believe in science and scientific theories as fact to justify their 'greed'. Open your mind and hearts with compassion and love, and stop throwing the rest of the world's religion under the buss.
I agree, we should also throw along all the other gods and deities.
