Trump is Fucked

I am not a prude.  I am not terribly offended, if I am down at the pub and the person I am talking to says “I fucking hate my fucking job, my fucking boss is a fucking pain in the ass.”  I am not terribly bothered if I see it in a film or hear it in a song, although I think it’s been a bit over done.  Seriously, after Train Spotting, there is no shock value left in it.  Fuck, after Running Man.

But, Donald Trump took it to a new level last night.  Of course, we all know that politicians know and use bad words.  Nixon used them on tape.  Joe Biden was caught saying to the President “It’s a big fucking deal” when he thought he was out of microphone range (like fuck he did – half of Joe Biden’s “gaffes” aren’t gaffes)  But Donald Trump is the first politician to just go for it, live, pre-planned, without any apologies.

It’s the pre-planned part that bothers me.  He thought about that speech beforehand.  It was not a casual conversation.  It was not a spontaneous outburst.  He asked himself, and maybe a few close advisors “should I say fuck?,” and they decided “Fuck, yeah.”  Judging by the crowd’s reaction, he may have made the right choice.  The crowd went fucking crazy.  Donald Trump just may be a fucking political genius.

I doubt it, though.  Oh, sure, it will appeal to the basest part of the Republican base.  They like it when people talk like that.  They think it’s fucking badass.  However, those people loved Trump anyway, because of the birther nonsense.  They are also probably the only people on the planet who didn’t catch the obvious stupidity in what Trump actually said.  If you say to the Saudis “You are NOT going to raise the fucking price,” what do you then do when the Saudi’s say “Yes, actually, we fucking well are.”?

They are, give or take a couple of percentage points, 28% of the American population.

A shockingly high percentage, to be sure.  Maybe a high enough percentage to win the Republican nomination.  Not enough to win the presidency, though.  He may have cemented his support among the Joe the Plumber crowd, but he lost the church ladies.  Church ladies don’t like it when people say fuck.
