Republican Hypocrisy Hits New High

U.S. representatives Randy Neuegebauer ( R-TX), Stevan Pearce (R-NM) and Spencer Bachus (R-AL), are introducing a bill in the U.S. congress urging people to pray for the people in disaster struck areas (tornadoes throughout the southeast and wildfires across Texas, lots of death and huge property damage).

After a tornado in Alabama

First of all, guys, it”s a free country.  Pray if you want to.  I’m sure that any people who are praying people are praying already, and don’t need your encouragement.  It’s locking the barn door after the cows have bolted.  Second, it’s sort of violating the old church and state principal.  Let’s leave aside the whole pledge of allegiance and “”In God We Trust” on all the money stuff which as a non-religious person, I don’t care for much either, you are trying to use the U.S. government to actively encourage religion.  It’s not right.

But that’s not the hypocritical part.  All three of those congressmen recently voted to cut federal funds for disaster relief.  So, you won’t get any extra blankets or bandages and you might not have a shelter to stay in now that your house has burned down, but we’ll pray for you.  We won’t send any extra doctors so the emergency rooms will be more crowded than ever, but we’ll pray for you.  You can die on the streets for lack of health insurance, but we will pray for you.

Bastards.

Yes, that is the hypocrisy that is America. The corporations, the government, the churches all work together to steal, kill, abuse, deprive, and ignore the health and material needs of the poor and sick…..then send you to church so you will learn to feel guilty if you complain, ask for help, try to better your situation or that of the lower classes and poor. They will not give you jobs or money, but they will pray for you as they watch you starve, die of illness, or lie homeless on a park bench. Prayer is free, and that is all they are willing to pay to help. Some say “Religion is the Opiate of the people”…. it lulls you to sleep so you don’t know you are being screwed.

You Philistine. Don’t you know that all it takes is prayer? Sure, if you please a “perfect” god by kissing his ass, and not pissing him off – risking his wrath – then, bam!, you got it made, bitch, because he’ll give you whatever you ask for. He likes him some toadies.

Wait – god sounds a lot like us. Therefore he -can’t- be perfect, because we’re clearly f’d the hell up. Well, shite, that just kind of creates a paradox, doesn’t it? How can god be perfect and not be perfect, simultaneously? He just is. Wow – being a deity is fucking awesome.

Unlike Republican politicians. They’re just scum suckers looking for a hand-out from rich people and corporations. Yet it’s bad when poor people do it. Maybe poor people just need to dress better when they ask for handouts.
