Little Pink Tutu

I know it’s Wednesday, time for the weekly awarding of the Richard, given to the biggest Republican dick of the week, but I’m going to discontinue that feature.  I’ll continue to write about politics a lot, it’s in the news every day, but I don’t want to get bogged down with routine

Ballet School

negativity.  Too much like the two-minute hate.

Also, I’ve got a nice buzz going, the rain is falling outside, tapping on the tin windowsill, business has been picking up and life is good.  I feel like writing about something nice for a change.

Isabel will be starting ballet classes in September.  She’s going to be great.  She loves dancing, at school, at home.  We dance to the theme songs of cartoons.

Of course, it’s not great dancing.  I shouldn’t say that, but she can’t read yet, and by the time she can read, she’ll be able to dance, so it’ll be O.K.

It reminds me of a scene in the Royal Tenenbaums which, I thought, was overall a highly overrated film, where Gene Hackman watches his kids perform a play for him and then his wife leans over and asks what he thinks, and he says “Eh, what’s to think?  A bunch of kids prancing around in animal suits.”  I guess that was the whole joke of the film, that he was the worst father in the world, but he was right.

Anyway, ballet might be a perfect fit.  Certainly, she has the  energy and the desire.  Although, if I know my little princess, she also desires the outfit.

We’ll see if she’s willing to put in the work.
