There are a few stories I want to comment on tonight. First, one of the funniest segments of a recent Republican debate was Rick (birther guy) Perry accusing Romney of hiring an illegal immigrant, just to hear Romney’s weak sauce denial. a lawn care firm, he sent them a sternly worded letter saying, hey, come on guys, I could get into trouble over this. They said sure, no problem, we’ll sort it out but they didn’t so he fired them.)
Turns out, though, there’s this. Really, Mitt. An undocumented Mexican gardener is one thing, but hiring the mastermind of a middle eastern terrorist gang as an advisor is another matter entirely.
GO, OAKLAND! After Tuesday night’s sound and fury, the protesters were out in force today, ready to take back the park. I’m proud of you guys.
Mayor Jean Quan, on the other hand, should resign immediately. In fact, I think that should be tacked on to any list of demands, once everybody gets behind one list of demands. She said ‘Oh, oh, it’s not my fault, I was in Washington.’
What a lame ass excuse. We’ve heard of telephones, Ms. Quan? Anyway, she said, she only told the chief of police to clear the park ‘when it would be safest.’ It’s totally the police’s fault that they decided, ‘middle of the night, with massive force’ was the safest way to go.
As Cromwell said to Parliament in 1653 “You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately … Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!”
Then, there is the story of Linda Wall, who is running for the Virginia House of Delegates. Super conservative, of course. The interesting thing about Linda Wall is that she admits to having had an affair with a minor, female JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL student, back in the 70s, when she was a young, pot smoking gym teacher straight out of college. She was confronted by the powers that be, she resigned, then she got Jesus, stopped smoking pot, prayed the gay away and now she’s running for office.
Although I’m pretty sure what Wall did was unethical, and there’s no doubt at all it was criminal, there’s a lot we don’t know about this case. Junior High is a serious minor, but was the girl a tumid, pre-pubescent 12 year old or was she ’13 going on 30′ as they say? Was she gay herself, just going through an experimental phase, or totally coerced? Was it a little fooling around one night in the locker room, or did it go on for awhile? I’m not making any moral judgments for the moment, I’m just waiting for the movie.
