Republicans Want Americans to Die Ignorant

At times, I’m not even sure the Republicans are even trying to win this election.

At other times, I am simply stunned into amazement that it it actually close.

What will it take to get Americans to turn against these monsters?

You don’t need no education

There have been two statements in the past couple of days which have really stretched the limits of credulity, the suspension of disbelief factor, which have left me shaking my head and saying OMGWTFGOP?  In most elections, in most countries, your support would collapse immediately upon hearing even one of these ridiculous, not to mention callous, quotes.

First, let’s discuss Mitch McConnell’s statement about  health  care that “30 million  uninsured Americans is not the issue.”  Actually, Mitch, they are pretty much exactly the issue.  We don’t need to pass any laws at all for those people who are already covered.

Mitch goes on to offer up some twaddle about improving our health care system (no specifics, mind you) and ended with the obligatory “American health care is the greatest in the world.”

I would say that the greatest health care system is that one which is available to the most people, but that’s just me.

This followed within about 24 hours of Mitt’s brilliant statement that students should get all the education they can afford.  Not only is it totally wrong to deny an education to somebody who wants it, it’s a bad business decision for society as a whole.

When I first heard that he’d said that, I thought it was a joke, because I was reading about it at Wonk (“What, me worry?) ette, and everything’s a joke over there, so I followed the link and, yup, those are his exact words and when you listen to it it actually sounds even worse, if that’s possible.

Republicans are anti-education and anti-health (they even object to vegetable gardens and aerobics, if I understand correctly).  They are also pro-pollution, violence and war.

What kind of horrible people vote for them?
