Reince Priebus, Wackadoodle

Reince Priebus is a very strange man.  Ordinary people do not have names like Reince.  But that’s not my main point.

Reince Priebus predicts the end of America

Reince Priebus is the chairman of the Republican National Committee, the job formerly held by Michael Steele.  It is his job to see that Republicans get elected to office.  That’s not what makes him strange.  That makes him evil, but evil is quite a common thing lately.

What makes him strange is what he said today: “Mitt Romney has to win for the sake of the very idea of America. Mitt Romney has to win for liberty and freedom.” Reince Priebus is like  the crazy preacher of a cult religion, without the  charisma.

Of course, it’s his job to make speeches in favor of Mitt Romney.  If he had said “Mitt Romney should be elected because  he will be better for the economy” or “Mitt Romney should be elected because he has very intelligent positions on foreign affairs” it would be blatantly dishonest, but it would not strike me as strange or weird in the least.

But “the very idea of America” is going to disappear.  How does he think Barack Obama is going to accomplish that?  And, as far as liberty and freedom are concerned, I don’t think the Republicans  have a leg to stand on there.  They’re the ones that brought us “homeland security” and the TSA.

It’s sort of like believing that the Mayan  calendar predicts the end of the world, or that if we all dress in purple robes, put on tennis shoes, and drink poison we will be lifted up to the Hale-Bopp comet as it passes the earth and hitch a ride to heaven.  Sometimes a willingness to believe crazy stuff is relatively harmless;  sometimes it can be fatal.

Actually, though, this crazy talk shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.  Their presidential candidate belongs to a religion which preaches that it’s adherents (at least the men, anyway) get to be gods over some primitive  planet when they die.  Some people will believe  anything.

I have a friend or two on Facebook who buy Reince’s view hook line and sinker.
Always concerned about pending marshal law and mass incarceration of Republicans and gun owners.
It’s very sad to see it.

    • You’re a better person than I am. I know we should keep the channels open and try to communicate with people, but I defriended somebody this morning on facebook over an anti-Obama post.

I thought about defriending some people, but they are the very ones that need to be educated with a differing point of view and actual facts.

You are NOT going to “educate” these people. They don’t care about facts; facts are things used by “lib’ruls” to distort the truth. You are much better off de-friending these “people.” Unfortunately. I have an aunt and a couple of friends who are like this. We don’t talk politics.
