Shoving It Down Their Throats

In a noble gesture for States Rights and Southern Independence, several  southern governors, (Rick Perry of Texas, Nikki Haley of South Carolina, Scott Walker of Wisconsin, Rick Scott of Florida and Bobby Jindal of Louisiana) have declared that they will not implement Obamacarewithin their sovereign borders.

Evil Twins

Well, Wisconsin isn’t southern, but lets’ not quibble.

Perhaps it would be best if we just went back to the days of reconstruction.  Bring the troops home from Afghanistan, station them south of the Mason-Dixon line, and stop taking shit from these assholes.

I am venting.  Actually, I think Obama is handling this with an exceptional level of cool. If the states don’t do what they’re supposed to, he has made clear, the federal government will step in and do it for them, and probably a good deal more efficiently.

So, Perry and Haley and Walker and the rest of the gang get to score some cheap political points, but the job will get done.  It doesn’t always.  Last summer, Perry scoffed at federal aid until half of his state was on fire and he had to beg for it.  Rick Scott didn’t want any federal money for improvements to transportation infrastructure, so California’s going to get a brand spanking new rail line between L.A. and San Francisco, which is really badly needed, so things kind of did work out on that one.  Not for Florida, but that’s what you get when you elect Voldemort’s brother.

Whether you think Obamacare is an overall good thing or bad thing, you should take a more in-depth look. Forget about the political finger pointing as that’s just a distraction. The more I research it the more I think Obamacare does as much harm as good. Some of the pain is already being felt in significantly higher fees at the doctor’s office, doctors forced to spend too much time on red tape and not enough time with patients, people who can’t get the diagnostic tests their doctors think they need because of red tape, a looming disaster for medicare patients, etc. It’s oh so easy to throw tomatoes from afar but reality isn’t so easy. The democrats were half hopeful the supreme court would strike it down as even they’re very concerned about it’s consequences. It’s going to be a disaster if the politicians don’t stop splitting hairs get going on the rework.

  2. Sure, it needs rework, but to become stronger and more comprehensive, not to be eliminated.
I live in Europe and enjoy full health insurance. It’s great.
