Random Friday Post

A few thoughts on several different subjects, because it’s late and, honestly, I don’t have any great ideas.

Pussy Riot: I’m a supporter, and wanted them to go free, but I’m actually relieved it was only two years.

Chess Grandmaster Garry Kasparov arrested while trying to attend the Pussy Riot trial

After all, they stormed into a church during services and played a song totally trashing the church. Hooliganism is not a surprising charge.  I hope that the international pressure keeps up, and they get released earlier, but I’m also worried about Garry Kasparov.

Two years is a long time, and I wouldn’t trade places with them for any amount of money, but they’ll be free before Bradley Manning.  Be strong, girls.

This Romney/Ryan secrecy thing is getting ridiculous.  They won’t discuss their tax plan until after the election and an adviser of Romney’s said today, with regard to the Romney Budget Plan, which is either totally in sync with the Ryan Plan or has nothing to do with it, depending on whether you listen to what Romney said yesterday or what he said the day before yesterday, “Campaigns that are about specifics, particularly in today’s environment, get tripped up.”

So, no specifics.  Generalities.  Platitudes.  Bullshit.

One rather disturbing thought I had about this election recently.  Without a budget plan of his own, Romney is by default tied to the Ryan plan.  They’ve taken to traveling together.  A recent Obama ad went directly after Ryan, not even mentioning Romney.
As horrible and inhumane as his political positions are, he may be a formidable force.

Ryan is Romney’s Cheney.
