…and Yeah, Verily, Thus the Lord God Smiteth Tampa

Oh, I’ve got nothing tonight,  I wouldn’t blame you if you read this first sentence and just clicked on through to something else.

This is not a photograph. This is a drawing.

I could comment on how a hurricane is likely to strike Tampa during the Republican convention and how that’s some sort of poetic justice or even divine retribution but that would be hypocritical of me as I don’t believe in that nonsense.  Hurricanes hit the evil and the good equally.  I could make a comment about how silly it was of the Republicans to hold their convention in Florida during hurricane season – I know they say they don’t believe in global warming, but I’m sure most of that is just for the rubes, so they can continue with their deregulating of industries and their rampant pollution of the environment.  Surely they don’t actually believe in that nonsense, surely they have noticed an increase in the frequency and ferocity of these tropical storms?  Because if they actually believe that climate change is not a reality, then screw ’em, they’re too stupid to save from drowning.

On the other hand, it’s not good to gloat.  The Democrats have their convention a week later, in North Carolina.  Not exactly the hurricane magnet that Tampa is, but not immune, either.

Gawker is quickly becoming one of my favorite news outlets.  They’ve just published a whole bunch of records from Bain Capital.  They prove that Mitt was at Bain long after his retroactive retirement, for one thing, but just also paint a picture of an insanely wealthy individual with fingers in many pies.  Many very exotic pies in foreign countries, too.

Lastly, I urge everybody to take a look at these.  Some of the comments were saying “This is not art.  This is just very skilled copying,” and maybe they’ve got a point, but I’m just amazed at the work and the skill that went into it and I say, if somebody’s worked that hard at it, and it’s beautiful, it’s art.  Red headed girl is stunning, but I liked the Jaguar best.
