Purges of God!

This is no big deal, this will be forgotten about in two days, and that is how it should be.  Of course Republicans, being Republicans, may try to hammer the point home over the next few days, may try to make a mountain out of a molehill, may use hyperbolic rhetoric, but…I don’t think you can  get more hyperbolic than “purges of God” and Paul Ryan has already gone there.

Let the Purges Begin!

Here’s the story: Some sharp eyed person noticed that the word “god” does not appear in the Democratic party’s platform.  They must have been sharp eyed, or a serious religious fanatic, because to notice something that isn’t there is much, much harder than reading and absorbing what is actually there.  It’s like you had to be looking for it in the 1st place.

Is the word “rainbow” in the platform?  How about “geranium?”  I don’t actually know.  I’m not going to read it just  to figure out what’s not in it.

“I think it’s rather peculiar,” Paul Ryan said (although there’s nothing terribly peculiar about it.  Contracts are written every day without the word god.   Lots of people have interesting and intelligent conversations without mentioning God, sometimes for hours.) “It’s not in keeping with our founding documents, our founding vision. (Yes, it is, on both counts.) I’d guess you’d have to ask the Obama administration (and while you’re at it, why don’t you ask him for his birth certificate?) why they purged (there’s that purge word – purge does not mean “to not include something that is really unnecessary”) all this language (all this language?  I thought you were talking about one word?) from their platform. There sure is a lot of mention of government. (because the Democrats are running for government offices.  Republicans seem to think they are running for Pope.) I guess I would just put the onus and the burden on them (well, of course you would) to explain why they did all this, these purges of god.”

Well, you know what, Marathon Man?  You don’t deserve an explanation.  This is too stupid a criticism to waste time on.  It’s just the next in a long line of random, pointless attacks which have nothing to do with health care, the economy or the size of the government: flag pins, dijon mustard, arugula, teleprompters, BIRTH CERTIFICATE!,  Jeremiah Wright and, now, the word “god.”

Talk about your Medicare voucher program or GTFO.

EDIT:  I just got this written and I go back over to Huffpo and find out the Democrats caved like a bunch of fucking little weenies – again.  That is not the way to go, guys.
