Well, old Mittful of dollars sure shot himself in the foot, which was in his mouth, to dangerously mix a metaphor. The tragedy is that even shooting off his mouth in the middle of a crisis and potentially endangering lives won’t be enough to change the polls by more than a percentage point or two. The Obama haters would vote for Elmer Fudd before they’d vote for Obama. Rush Limbaugh said so.
The good thing is that the polls are trending upward for Barry, just ever so slightly, and every new day seems to bring a new catastrophe for Mitt. That’s because, being election season, he’s giving speeches pretty much every day. And when Mitt speaks, shit flows from his mouth just as sure as Old Faithful.
I’m not going to condemn the filmmaker. There are enough people out there doing that and, from the couple of trailers I’ve seen the main flaw is that it’s a really crappy film. Not even great for home made with amateur actors. The fact that the whole Arab world is up in arms over it says far more about the Arab world than it does about those who mock the Arab world.
In fact, it rather justifies the mockery.
Yes, free speech means we are allowed to laugh at you, and laugh at the things that are sacred to you. Let’s face it, you look pretty ridiculous, grown men running around the desert dressed in sheets, and everybody name Abu this and Abu that, and shouting “Allah Akbar!” in more situations than Smurfs say “smurf.” Ramadan is a ridiculous holiday. Feast or fast, but make up your fucking mind. And, while you might think that praying 14 times a day while facing Mecca makes you “pious,” most people would define that as “crazy.”
I just hope nobody gets killed over this post.
Wow. When you miss the point, you really miss the point. This had nothing to do with dipshit Mitt, a stupid film, or your own partisan nonsense. You can be part of the solution or fuel the ignorance with irrelevant bile. Do some reading. Figure out what happened and why. You attack Islam which had nothing to do with this, you attack Mitt whose opinion is less than pointless. You talk about free speech as if it exists in America. Check out the 16 year old who got questioned by the FBI for a completely innocuous Ron Paul film that he got an A+ on in high school history (that quite honestly was more of a B+, but I guess I’m a tougher grader). Check out the thousands of Americans that have been picked up and jailed or held in mental institutions for ‘free speech’, before you condemn countries we just invaded for absolutely no justifiable reason. It was not a fundamentalist mob – it was a very well-planned and executed assassination. Dig a little deeper next time before you start typing. Sorry – love you anyway.

Well, this was maybe not my best blog ever, because I started on one topic (Romney’s tactlessness and poor timing) and then drift into another (the Arab world’s striking lack of a sense of humor), and the 2nd half may have even contradicted the 1st half, a bit.
But, I don’t think I missed the point. I just talked about a couple of different points.
I agree with you (and Dr. Paul) that U.S. intervention in other countries is almost always a mistake. However, we didn’t intervene in Egypt or Yemen and in Libya, we did it pretty indirectly. I thought the big O handled that situation pretty skillfully, actually.
Compared to Bush, Romney, or anybody in the Republican party who is not Ron Paul, Obama is not much of an interventionist.
So, Ron Paul supporters should start backing him.
We are obviously intervening in Libya directly and in Yemen then and now. All of this was unnecessary and very sad. Libya is now a failed state. Iraq is a failed state and Yemen is well on its way. Egypt and Syria could (will) be next. The ‘Arab Spring’ has given way to a ‘Fearful Fall’. Obama has ‘intervened’ (killed people) in more countries than any other president outside of a World War. I agree that Romney is (and would be) much worse, but that’s little consolation. I don’t subscribe to the false Left/Right paradigm, it obscures the issues, distorts the facts and leaves one just spinning wheels of distracting, misdirected emotion, solving nothing and inevitably making things worse.
