When Paul Ryan was asked by Chris Wallace of Fox Newstoday to explain Romney’s tax plan, and gave a bullshit answer, Wallace said “You haven’t given me the math.”
Ryan responded “I don’t have the … It would take me too long to go through all of the math.” Leave aside for a moment that this is also a bullshit answer, because it only takes a couple of seconds to say “we’re going to end the deduction for charitable contributions,” or “we’re going to end the deduction for children” but he knows that as soon as he mentions a deduction or two, there will be opposition from everybody who benefits from that deduction, the math will be unimpressive because no one or two things will make up the shortfall, and, worst of all, Mr. Mitt and he would then be locked in, they would have made a commitment and that would only embarrass them later in the odd event they should win the election, because they have no intention of closing any loopholes. That’s not the interesting part of that quote.
See, what Ryan said was “it would take too long to go through all the math,” but he started to say “I don’t have the….” I get the feeling that he was caught in an unguarded moment, he was about to let fly with an actual true statement but caught himself at the last second.
I don’t have the brains God gave a goose.
I don’t have the slightest idea what I’m saying, I just make it up as I go along.
I don’t have the ethical standards of a cockroach.
I don’t have the time for your bullshit, Chris Wallace!
I don’t have the slightest idea why people keep saying I look like Eddie Munster.
I don’t have the bank account in the Caymans, get off my back.
I don’t have the slightest chance of winning this thing, I know, but I was hoping for 2016, what’s with all of the gotcha questions?
Time to come clean, congressman. What were you going to say?
