Well, I was patting myself on the back a couple of hours ago for being all super organized and efficient and stuff, but here it is almost midnight and the blog unwritten and no big ideas, so now I’m not so sure.
See, I knew I was going to have a super busy weekend. We still have to finish the November issue of Watson’s World News, and here it is already December. I have to read 50 pages of an English translation of Persian poetry – some of which is at least not half bad, thank goodness for small favors, as my mother used to say, work on a couple of poems I am writing, there are 4 I’m working on that I have about a line or two in my head. And then, last night Helena informed me of a proofreading for her job that’s about 20 pages long. Then, this morning we had to go to Sam’s football game (he said they won but I saw goals being scored fast and furious at both ends, couldn’t keep count and didn’t talk to anybody else who knew the score, either) and after lunch everybody took off for the cottage and I had nothing but peace and quiet to get down to work, but a truncated weekend and a serious work load.
I made a to-do list and decided that I’d work on one thing until I got bored and then work on something else and added a couple of small household tasks to the list so I could check a few things off quickly if I got too bogged down. But it turned out there was less left to do on Watson’s World News than I thought and the proofreading for my wife’s job is mostly photo captions and graphs so that was a piece of cake.
Then I smoked a big, fat joint and watched Men In Black II. It holds up. I still haven’t done the Persian poetry, but now I can scratch the blog off my list and tomorrow’s another day. So, I guess I’m not doing so badly.
