Thoughts on The Inauguration

First, I thought Beyoncé was awesome.  But, was I mistaken or was Bill Clinton totally checking out her ass?

Anyway, Obama gave a real rousing sermon speech, touched on a lot of points, made everybody feel good.

But he still hasn’t closed Gitmo.  Bradley Manning is still in jail.  He’s still being a hardass about marijuana.  The drone strikes continue and civilians continue to die.  He continues to let the  rich walk all over the poor.

He’s truly a brilliant speaker, so that’s nothing notable.  What I thought was interesting were some of the reactions.  A few people have noted Eric Cantor’s disdainful look during the poem but I didn’t think that was any big deal.  It looked like he was falling asleep but needed to sneeze, and that’s not a major faux pas.  Besides,it was not a brilliant poem. nasty woman

But who was this woman standing right behind Michelle Obama and what was her problem?  I’ve been told it’s Mrs. John Boehner, which sort of explains a lot.  Why he cries all the time, for one thing.  Seriously, though, lady, this is Barry’s big day.   You’re lucky to be up there on the podium.  You are the  wife (mind you, in a party that hates women) of a low life, weepy, corporate owned, teabag toadying, obstructionist Republican congressman.

This is probably the closest you will ever get to stand next to the big players, to be present at a stellar moment in American history, and you stand there and scowl.  Oh, well.  Keep on hating.

Everybody else had a fine time.
