Snow

Well, we did get “What do Children Like to Do?” my children’s book (illustrated by Lenka Brožová) sent off to create space for approval and I expect it to be up on Amazon in a couple of weeks, so that’s one accomplishment in what’s been generally a lazy weekend.

Just stepped out to the balcony for a last toke before blog and bed and the snow is coming down in force, the sky is thick with flakes and the trees are all frosted and the cars in the parking lot almost buried, but they will  shake it off in the morning, and I saw a dark haired girl in a black coat walk out to the parking lot and come back  a minute later, and she is not covered with snow like the trees and the cars, we emerge for a moment, never totally subsumed by the winter blanket that puts the world to sleep.

Tomorrow, as I get up for work, everybody will be getting up for work, but the traffic will move a little bit slower, it’s not just the molecules in the water that slow down, turning drops of rain into beautiful, pure white, individual crystalline patterns, but everything in the world slows down a bit, bears hibernate, I don’t know what fish do, in frozen rivers, probably being fairly dormant near the bottom.

Prague will look like a winter wonderland, at least for the one morning.

It’s beautiful, and I’m looking forward to it, but I’m also looking forward to spring, and it’s looking a long way  off.
