Winter’s Icy Grip

The ground is like rock, it has been frozen for so long.  I have been predicting the immediate onset of spring now for several weeks, only to be disappointed again and again.  It’s not only still cold, it is cold-er, the wind is biting, it makes your skin tingle.  December wasn’t anywhere near this cold.  Still, I predict that spring is just around the corner, because it’s got to be.

Tuesdays are a busy day for me.  It would have been a great day to sit around indoors, and I always tell myself I could get some writing done, but it’s never true.  Anyway, first class was 3rd graders.  The teacher wants me to use their text, I’ll use their text.  Happy Street.  Bloody have got.

Not the most interesting lesson ever, but not a disaster.

Then, my coffee house student canceled (which makes like 3 or 4 in a row, but it’s a voluntary.  So, whatever.) so I went home, selected two more articles for the next edition of “Watson’s World News”, one about swallows in Nebraska evolving shorter wingspans to avoid getting killed in traffic.  Natural selection, as we speak.  And one about Jesse James, the creepy dude that was never, ever good enough for Sandra Bullock, is getting married.  All the best, Jesse.

Then Helena called, I had to go pay for Sam’s nature school so there went my nice relaxing little break, I went and did that and made it back for my 11:50 class no problem.  That’s the 1st grade class that’s the most trouble, although I’m not sure about that any more.

They look at me so sweetly, so it comes as a surprise

When I find that there is nothing going on behind their eyes.

Then my  class in Uhrineves, then  picked up Isabel from school, then tonight I went into the center for  chess club.  Chilled to the bone, at every transition.  Good night.  Spring is coming soon.
