I’m angry at all the people who are angry at Miley Cyrus. Because of their misguided outrage, I felt compelled to watch Hannah Banana’s VMA performance.
Eh. Not my cup of tea, but you see worse stuff every day on MTV and VH1. I thought the foam finger penis simulation was particularly lame, and the bear suits were stupid but, as I said, you see worse stuff every day on MTV and VH1. As for the flesh colored bra and panties that has some people going into hysterics, it was actually fairly modest by swimsuit standards and it wasn’t “flesh colored” enough to convince anybody they were actually looking at flesh.
So, despite the fact that it was a performance I would have been just as happy not to have seen, I’m not upset with Miley Cyrus. She hasn’t done anything immoral.
She hasn’t done anything illegal, except a whole lot of smoking marijuana, which I totally approve of because I do it, too, and I think she’s a bit of a hero for speaking up about it. If all the stars who smoked pot would speak up about it, it might hasten the day of complete legalization, but those who do – Miley, Willie Nelson, George Michael, Paul McCartney – quickly become the butt of all the stoner jokes.
Also, she’s over 18 so, if she was so inclined, she could take off all of her clothes and have wild, crazy sex on stage and it would be perfectly legal – in some places, anyway.
It doesn’t matter that she came to fame on a show aimed at children on the Disney Channel. If you were that into her as a child actress, you should have been taping them. I’m sure you can still find them, if you want.
If you are all that concerned about her mental health, or her career, don’t be. She’s not Lindsay Lohan. She’s not Amanda Bynes. She’s not even close.
