This will only be of interest to people who are interested in this sort of thing. It’s an interesting sound but it’s not exactly music you can dance to and there aren’t any memorable lyrics.
I’m not even sure of what it proves, because I’m not a scientist, I’m just a guy who likes Star Trek a lot and has read somewhat more science fiction than average.
But, it’s a sound. From outer space. Not just outer space like the kind the astronauts had to fly to to get to the moon, not just where the International Space Station is hovering. This is from real outer space, outside our solar system. This sound is cool because it has never been heard before. Not in the entire million year long history of mankind.
It’s cool because there is a sound. I had been led to believe that in space no one can hear you scream and that is apparently untrue. I had also thought, until fairly recently, that interstellar space was completely empty, but now some scientists are saying that there’s probably lots of stuff drifting around out there.
Anyway ,they are saying that this sound is “plasma vibrations.” I don’t really know what that means but it must mean there is plasma out there, and that’s something. Follow the link and take a listen. To me, it sounded a little bit like the call of dolphins underneath the sea.
In other news, congratulations to Secretary of State Lurch, Vladimir Putin, and everybody else involved in the Syrian talks – it appears WWIII has been averted.
