My two week Christmas vacation is over, tomorrow is back to work, and I’ve definitely got mixed feelings about it.
Actually, in a way, we’ll get a one week extension of our vacation because, even though I’m back at work tomorrow, the kids are off on a one week ski trip with their school, so that allows for a bit of vacation, too.
I feel happy about getting back to work, I’ve been idle too long. When I don’t have to work, I don’t have to think too much, I don’t have to be on my toes, I don’t have to shower before I go out of the flat in the morning, I don’t have to go out of the flat in the morning. Except on very rare occasions, when the food supply ran low, I didn’t need to go out at all.
So, you would think I would have gotten a lot done, what with the writing and all. Not so much. A couple of short poems and today we almost finished a book. When we do get it up and available on Amazon, I’ll write a blog about it, because it’s a bit different from my previous books and I think of special interest to those who use social media.
That means we didn’t start at all on the one children’s book that I have written and we’ve already got the illustrations for it, too. By the time we get those two online, I should have another poetry book ready to go.
Saw a couple of movies – using the gift of my son’s Xbox – The Hunger Games, Night at the Museum, Our Idiot Brother, Mission Impossible II, Men in Black II, John Carter of Mars. Started reading “Walden” on my new Kindle. Free, which I think is really appropriate.
Mostly, though, ate too much, smoked too much and sat around reading news on the internet all day long. I guess it was a pretty good vacation after all.
