A while back I wrote a blog about graffiti and how it’s one of the very few things i have a mixed opinion on, although generally it pisses me off. Anyway, I’m glad I left that door open a crack, because tonight I’d like to write about a particularly awesome example of graffiti art.
Of course, it’s not graffiti in one sense, because it was commissioned and the artists did not have to keep an eye out for the police, rush their work or, for that matter, work in the dark.
And I don’t want to write about it so much as I just want to post this link , so you can look at it and judge for yourselves.
But, to those who are bound to say “but it’s a castle, this is a desecration of Scottish heritage, even if it is a private residence, they are making a mockery of tradition and history,” I say, as you tour around Europe, castles and cathedrals are a dime a bloody dozen, drive down the road apiece, you’ll see another one, and after a while they all look the same so I’ve got no objection whatsoever to the Old Hippie Laird of the Manor who wanted to add a dash of color to his surroundings, and I support his bid to have it declared a local landmark -with art intact. Actually, it is a local landmark either way, so whether to leave the artwork or not is the only question.
And I say “a man’s home is his castle, even if it’s a castle.” Besides, the artwork is awesome.
