If you are in Prague, my friend Steve is having an event. The “Liberation Party” is Saturday (that’s today) from 16:00 until Sunday morning…all night…Address is Krenicka 56,big green house. It’s a get together to help a woman save her home.
The whole Clint Eastwood thing will blow over in a couple of days. But the Republican National Convention, in it’s entirety, will blow over in a couple of days.
We’re not off the hook yet. I suspect that Romney’s strategy, from the beginning, was just to try and stay even just by staying in, by not saying anything and not being Barack Obama, and then in October hit with a wave of money the like of which has never been seen in American politics before.
It might work. There has to be a threshold. If you spend $2 billion, will that be enough to buy the presidency? How about $10 billion? $50 billion? Because there are people who have that much, and some day one of them will adopt this strategy, with a candidate somewhat more palatable than Mitt Romney. It is a very scary thought.
On the other hand, to put things into a more positive light before I close, Carly Fiorina, Meg Whitman, and that crazy wrestling lady in Connecticut seemed to prove that there was a threshold for candidate’s, too. That is, even throwing huge amounts into a campaign wouldn’t work if the candidate is a total dud.
Crazy wrestler lady’s having another go at it, though. So, we’re not off the hook yet.
