Well, apparently one of the top players in the George Washington Bridge scandal has cut a deal with prosecutors, because his lawyers are now saying America’s fattest governor, Chris “Krispy Kreme” Christie knew all about it. That’s cool. I’m not too worried if some Port Authority official goes to jail or not, but I do not like the idea of President Christie at all. It may still be a bit premature to celebrate his demise, but I am celebrating nonetheless.
In much more important news, today was the first day of the year of the Horse, specifically the Wood Horse. Since I am a child of 1954 (My Favorite Year), that’s what I am – not that I believe in all of that stuff. Whatever, I am looking forward to a kickass year. I’ve got a few books in the works, going to start teaching a new class on Tuesday, and I’m feeling optimistic.
According to Susan Levitt, this is going to be a year of fast changes, big changes, and the best way to go through it (especially if you are a Horse) is like a Horse, running straight ahead and not thinking about things too much. From her website: The Wood Horse year is a time of fast victories, unexpected adventure, and surprising romance. It is an excellent year for travel, and the more far away and off the beaten path the better. Energy is high and production is rewarded. Decisive action, not procrastination, brings victory. But you have to act fast in a Horse year. If you are not 100% secure about a decision, then don’t do it. Events move so quickly in a Horse year that you don’t want to gallop off in the wrong direction.
She also says it should be a pretty good year for Tigers, Sheep, Dogs and most everybody, really, except for the Rats. Rats think too much. 2014 is going to suck for people who actually like to look at things rationally and plan and stuff like that.
As far as world events are concerned, she says that it will be a year of extremes, some national economies booming, others collapsing, and lots of wars breaking out all over the place, but those have been pretty safe predictions in every year since forever.
So, Happy Year of the Horse, everybody! Hay!
