Republican Hypocrisy Hits New High

U.S. representatives Randy Neuegebauer ( R-TX), Stevan Pearce (R-NM) and Spencer Bachus (R-AL), are introducing a bill in the U.S. congress urging people to pray for the people in disaster struck areas (tornadoes throughout the southeast and wildfires across Texas, lots of death and huge property damage).

After a tornado in Alabama

First of all, guys, it”s a free country.  Pray if you want to.  I’m sure that any people who are praying people are praying already, and don’t need your encouragement.  It’s locking the barn door after the cows have bolted.  Second, it’s sort of violating the old church and state principal.  Let’s leave aside the whole pledge of allegiance and “”In God We Trust” on all the money stuff which as a non-religious person, I don’t care for much either, you are trying to use the U.S. government to actively encourage religion.  It’s not right.

But that’s not the hypocritical part.  All three of those congressmen recently voted to cut federal funds for disaster relief.  So, you won’t get any extra blankets or bandages and you might not have a shelter to stay in now that your house has burned down, but we’ll pray for you.  We won’t send any extra doctors so the emergency rooms will be more crowded than ever, but we’ll pray for you.  You can die on the streets for lack of health insurance, but we will pray for you.

Bastards.
