Over at www.thepartisandialogues, a site which is seriously infested with teatards and Randroids and I’m thinking of leaving (that is one of the lovely things about the internet – no need to say good bye, no need to explain, you just stop signing in and you’re done) because it does get tedious talking to them, but someone posted the question „What do you call yourself?“ I guess hoping to distinguish between the social conservatives, the fiscal conservatives and the Christian right.
So, I figured that deserved a response.
Liberal, progressive, secular humanist. I believe with a little bit more intelligence and a lot less hysteria, the world could be a much better place.
I believe that all people in the world want a decent life, with enough food to eat, clean water to drink and a comfortable place to sleep at night. I believe that the earth has the resources and mankind has the technology to provide that and if we could get beyond those people who are trying to carve out their own power niche within a confusing and corrupt society, we could have it.
I am against war, in almost all circumstances. I am against torture, and imprisonment of people without a trial, in all circumstances. I am against capital punishment.
I am a big supporter of space research, the legalization of marijuana, complete transparency in government (I don’t buy the national security excuse. When governments keep secrets, there is something they don’t want their own people to know), high speed trains, recycling and alternative forms of energy.
I believe that 9/11 was an inside job. I believe the JFK assassination was an inside job, too, but that’s not a strictly liberal, knee-jerk reaction. I also believe the Kennedys killed Marilyn Monroe. I believe Guy Fawkes was framed. I believe that people who have lots of power pull that kind of shit all of the goddamned time.
I don’t believe that there is a Jewish conspiracy to control the world’s finances and I no longer believe in Aliens. That is, I am sure there are other intelligent, technological species in the universe, it’s almost inevitable statistically, but I doubt that we are being visited much.
I guess that’s enough for now.
I agree with all but the Jews not controlling the financial markets. All the big financial names are Jewish, or the corporate leaders are, as well as our governments financial leaders. I am glad to see that more Arab and Muslim names are appearing in the financial world and products…they have a more honest ethic now it seems.
