This is the 2nd Chapter of my book “The Guru Kalehuru’s Guide to the Magical Numbers of the Tarot.”
Two is about union, duality, couples and romance, the yin and the yang, opposites, day and night, black and white, good and evil. Two is Gemini and Libra. Contrast and balance. , Janus, the two headed Roman god of beginnings and endings. Two is a round trip , two is a double dip.
In addition to the 2 of swords (balance and justice, a sword in each hand), the two of cups (a happy couple), the two of coins, (balance and being able to juggle finances) and the
2 of staffs, (which I suppose could be read as a longing for the other, for fulfillment, although I generally disregard the number and translate that one as wanderlust – it isn’t always about the numbers but this book is about the numbers), 3 cards of the major arcane have major connections to the number 2.
They are the High Priestess, which is all about dark and light, yin and yang, rational v. spiritual, head v. heart, good girl v. bad girl, The Chariot, which is all about bringing opposite forces together, unifying the two into one, and Justice, who of course holds the scales.
But, of course, if someone has a lot of twos in their reading, go with the romance angle. Everybody in the world is looking for love and, with a little bit of encouragement, they may find it.

I agree everyone in the world is looking for love. Why can’t we all just start by showing love to all our family members and friends, and the stranger on the street, the homeless person, the addict who has turned the world’s hatred of him inward toward himself? People do not ‘self-destruct’, they are crucified by a selfish society that places unrealistic and unloving expectations on them, societies that offer no love or help, only criticism and punishment.
