A Pattern of Intimidation

Once is an isolated incident.  Twice may be a coincidence.  Three times is a pattern.

Third time is a charm.  Three strikes and you’re out.  It’s official.  Republicans are using intimidation as a tactic.  It’s not just rhetoric any more.  “Don’t retreat, reload” (Palin) and “2nd amendment remedies” (Angle) were frightening enough as slogans, but Republicans are making their message clearer, and more directly physical, as election day approaches.  Oppose us, and we’ll beat the fuck out of you.

The first incident happened in Alaska.   Teabagger candidate Joe Miller’s security people “arrested” a reporter and handcuffed him to a chair.  They said he was trespassing.  The event happened in a public school.  Public means it belongs to the public.  Therefore, no trespassing.  When the police arrived, they made the goons let the reporter go.  But he never got to ask his question.

The 2nd incident happened in Kentucky.  The tag team of Tim Profitt, aka the Kentucky Stomper and Mike Pezzano, the Palooka from Paducah, were working security for Rand Paul.  A female protester was trying to get close to Rand Paul to deliver a message.  (It was an “employee of the month” award from a fictional group called Republicorp).  Mezzano grabbed her and forced her to the ground.  Profitt

The Pride of The South

stomped on her head.  In an absolutely bizarre development, Profitt said today that the woman should apologize.  Seriously.

The 3rd incident happened today in Virginia, and the actual police were playing the bad guys.  Some Democrats had the nerve to be present at an Eric Cantor event, and were planning on asking questions.  They were thrown out of the venue (admittedly, this time it was private property) and one of them was thrown to the ground and held down by 3 officers, one of whom bears an unfortunate resemblance to Boss Hogg from the Dukes of Hazzard, girthwise.

Three times is a pattern.  There can be no more doubt.  They intend to win through intimidation and bullying.  Don’t let them get away with it.

This is not new behavior, it happens at every election, especially at the conventions. Democrats are not totally clean on this either.

  2. These are the best of times, these are the worst of times…
