Teenagers v. Evil Monolithic World Government

The whole Wikileaks thing just got a little bit uglier.  Not only do U.S. authorities have one man in solitary confinement, cut off from friends, family and the outside world.  Not only have they enlisted the aid of England and Sweden to revive a months old sexual charge, which is a laughable sexual charge, against Julian Assange.  Not only did they pressure Mastercard, Visa, Paypal and the Swiss Banking system to try to deny Assange his money.  Not only have several American politicians talked openly about execution for Manning and Assange.  (Assange is not an American.  They can’t touch him.)

Freedom!

Now they have enlisted the Dutch police in the arrest of a 16 year old boy.  The boy was one of those who, in response to the evil one world government’s (U.S., Sweden, England, the Netherlands and several large banks and corporations – I do not think I’m being hyperbolic, not even one little bit) heavy handed tactics, launched a denial of service attack on MasterCard.

Now, I’m no computer geek, I have a hard time getting into systems that want me to get in, so I’m totally guessing on this, but I’m guessing that a denial of service attack on a corporation that size requires quite a few people at quite a few different computers.  I don’t know if that means 10 s, or 100 s or 1,000 s.  One thing I know is that they only caught one person and there at least 1000 s more willing to take his place.  1000s more computer savvy, determined young kids with time on their hands.

The evil, monolithic world government is going to lose this battle.  They are outmanned and outgunned.  On the one hand, you have high level bureaucrats who’ve learned to send e-mails saying “Boy, that Karzai character sure is a crook, huh?” and on the other hand you have the up and coming generation of computer geniuses, the Bill Gateses and Mark Zuckerbergs of the 21st century.

I’m glad the nerds are on our side.

I wonder if not only the young, computer-savy generation won’t take the lead, but perhaps the Chinese, Indians, Russians, Asians, etc. might be interested in seeing what else the Western powers are saying about them. I heard one TV commentator say the wars of the future will not be waged with bombs, planes and bullets (that’s a relief), but with computer keyboards. That is our children’s future….for better or worse. Perhaps we should all learn to get along after all, just ‘Imagine’….

  2. I like how you tied the last two threads together.
