Judith Miller, the former New York Times columnist who now works for Fox News, the woman who said it wasn’t her job to verify whether or not the information she was getting from government sources was actually true or not, who said it wasn’t her job to question them, who repeated the lies about weapons of mass destruction long after any normally intelligent person, much less a trained journalist, would have realized they were being played for a chump, says Julian Assange is not a good journalist.
Doesn’t verify his stories, she says. First off, Assange doesn’t run the stories himself. He cooperates with Miller’s former bosses at the NYT, or maybe the good folks over at the Manchester Guardian, or a couple of other newspapers. The stories are checked. People are called for further comments or verification. I hope, because that’s the way journalism is supposed to work. I don’t trust the Times any more (because Miller used to work there), but I expect they are treading very carefully through this legal minefield, and not just printing bullshit like they did before the Iraq War.

The point is that it’s pretty rich coming from Judith Miller. For Judith Miller to call anybody a bad journalist is like Rosie O’Donnell calling somebody else fat. It’s like George Bush correcting your grammar. It’s like Michael Vick telling you you should treat your dog better. It’s like Paris Hilton calling somebody a slut or Keith Richards telling somebody to lay off the drugs. It’s like Mike Tyson complaining about dirty fighting. It’s like Donald Trump accusing someone of vanity. It’s like Bristol Palin giving advice on teen pregnancy. Yes, there is a lot of hypocrisy on the Right, a lot of delusional, arrogant thinking and acting as well. They feel they are not ‘of this world’….so they don’t give a damn about those who occupy it. I heard one commentator recently say we need to start looking at where people ‘come from’ and stop listening to what they say. They all lie anyway.
