I Blog

I know this has nothing to do with tonight's blog, but this billboard exists, in Tucson, Arizona, right now

Sometimes I blog to make a point

sometimes I blog and smoke a joint

sometimes I blog and link a lot

sometimes my blog is not that hot

sometimes I blog to make a case

sometimes I blog to fill up space

sometimes I blog about my kids

and something funny that they did

sometimes I blog about a film I’ve seen

sometimes I write things that are mean

sometimes I blog about my day

when I don’t have too much else to say

500 words is quite enough

for almost all my bloggy stuff

short is good, succinct and nifty

but I try to hit at least 250

I write a lot of political crap

but that becomes a bit of a trap

Civilization is in the shitter

and blogging about it just makes me bitter

sometimes my rhetoric may be fiery

but at least I’m not blogging my fucking diary

the news, this week, hasn’t been much fun

I don’t want to talk any more about guns

I should blog more about beauty and art

more bloggers need to play that part

music and travel and poetry

to show my sensitivity

and less about the news, of course,

which you can get from other sources

the biggest news today, I guess

is Kelsey Grammer in a dress

which appeals to my sense of humor

even though it’s just a rumor

and that means I’m repeating gossip and such

but I don’t like Kelsey Grammer much

I always thought Frazier was kind of sad

except sometimes for the parts with his dad

and Cheers! started well, but then it went wrong

when they got rid of Shelly Long

Still, for a show about a bar

it spawned an awful lot of stars

and I don’t have much more to write

and so, for now, I’ll say good night

I’m going to be the whiner and say, actually, the current status of journalism isn’t enough to challenge the barrage of lies and to illuminate the deprivation and manipulation of the masses.
If you were trying to chill, I’m sorry to ruin it for you.
I do think you are right about creating, doing art, making music, writing poetry, because these endeavors tend to be constructive and humanizing, they drive us toward compassion and connection and evolution.
    (And we need to evolve)

  3. He slogs through blogs a life gone to the dogs. Poetry sunshine budding tree goldmine. Fogs internal and external battling demons banal infernal. Doin’ the hope rope-a-dope losing scope and scale turning a minnow into a whale, winnowing sorrow from sheaves of joy, dancing in leaves, a rake-less boy. Hackneyed images he doth employ. ‘Doth’?! ‘Doth’!? Froth and moth, a well-intentioned Visigoth. Rare and spare and I don’t care there aren’t words that can repair certain actions and transactions, Baltic for Boardwalk? Iraq’s been a cakewalk. End this now for Carla and Coach, while Woody Bogarts the roach and Lillith vamps, a vixen beyond reproach.

It’s a miracle this spherical globular globe hosts provosts and deans unseen separated by miles and styles umpteen refereeing no being not even seeing zones alone this magical digital linking machine no phones no cone no silence suffers no border buffers golfers are duffers and scratch and all between wordsmiths and readers winners loss leaders no matter this patter surely describes distance is meaningless to inimitable scribes.
