This Coming March

My Prediction: Dead by the end of the month

March is a month of change and transition, comes in like a lion, goes out like a lamb, it’s the end of winter and the beginning of Spring throughout the temperate zone and, even though the temperate zone is shrinking like the American middle class or the Amazon Rain Forest, that still pretty much holds true.  This coming month, however, seems to be at a major transition point in human history and it’s more than the natural seasons which are changing.

Of course, there is revolution throughout the Arab world.  I expect that Gaddafi will be dead before the end of March.  I certainly hope so.  Anybody who would gladly see the deaths of thousands of their countrymen in order to maintain personal power does not deserve to be the leader of those people.  I feel the same way about George Bush.  And Lyndon Johnson for that matter.  You can’t turn back the clock and so I know that Lyndon Johnson will never be hung up by his heels and torn to shreds by an angry crowd like Mussolini was, but I still have hope for Gaddafi and Bush.  Well, Gaddafi.  I’d at least like to see war crimes trials for Bush.

Other predictions:  Assange will be sent back to Sweden but, really, I can’t see them convicting him on these bogus, trumped up sex charges.  On the other hand, it will be hard for them to let him go.  I see some kind of a deal in the making.  They will try to emasculate him and succeed, but Wikileaks will carry on because it is bigger than Assange.  Bradley Manning will continue to be screwed.  I totally sympathize with the guy and think he is a national hero and it is a disgrace that he is in jail, but I’m just making predictions here, objectively.  Sarah Palin will continue to hint that she’s running for president, and at least one member of her family will be involved in a scandal.  She will claim the media is out to get her.  Whatever happens in Wisconsin, no other governor is going to try exactly the same thing any time soon, although there are plenty of teabagger governors, so they will try variations of the same thing.  We’re in for a long fight on this one.

Barack Obama will continue to be a corporatist lackey, and we on the left will continue to support him because there really is nobody better and the Republicans really are significantly worse.  Lindsey Lohan will get arrested again.  Lady Gaga will say, or wear, something scandalous.  Don’t expect anything great from her in the musical department.  That’s just not there.  Silvio Berlusconi will continue to maintain his innocence, but the charges will mount.  I hope so, anyway.  That is a really fun scandal to write about.

The days will get longer and warmer.  That, at least, I’m sure of.

    Mounting charges…? Sounds dirty.

  2. I guess the whole question is, was he charged for mounting.

Mounting under-aged girls put in his charge. As in, Boy-Robin was Batman’s charge. NAMBLA-esque rumors loomed large. Into Batman’s bedroom Alfred would never barge. But Batman wasn’t the leader of a European country. And he wasn’t real. Nevermind.
