I’ve always like Arnold Schwarzenegger’s movies. Even the comedies. Maybe especially the comedies. Kindergarten Cop and Twins were great movies. Arnold is the exception to the rule

that right wingers can’t do comedy. (It also strikes me that, while actors are more often than not liberal, action adventure actors are almost invariably conservative. It’s like they believe their own hype, that you can solve all problems by kicking enough ass.)
So, I was pissed off when he ran for governor as a Republican, and I was pissed off when he won. I haven’t watched a Schwarzenegger movie in years.
But, although he wasn’t a great governor, he has never seemed as truly evil as his fellow party members: Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, et alii. And now he’s not governor any more and might even go back to movies. I’m tired of being mad at Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Now this juicy tidbit: The reason Maria Shriver dumped him after 25 years of marriage is that he has a 10 year old son with another woman. Their maid, apparently.
Now, all of the self-righteous commenters over at Huffingatonopaste are just aghast that he could do such a thing to Maria (I love the way we sling around the first names, as if we actually knew these people), how he’s the worst father and evillest man in the world, and so on.
IMHO, this is no biggie. He didn’t do anything that men haven’t been doing for thousands of years. Sure, it’s sort of a jolt for the wife and kids but come on, Maria, you’re a Kennedy – you know men cheat. Heat of the moment, you know, and then whammo, you’ve got a secret stepson.
The kids will be all right. They’re young, they’re rich, they’re beautiful (I’m assuming), they will adapt.
Anyway, as far as I’m concerned, he’s not in politics any more, so his personal life is no concern of mine. I’m going to go back to enjoying his movies.
I just hope he does right by the young man in question.

All I can say is, haven’t ever yet. But then again, I imagine Arnold’s been presented with a lot more temptation than I have.
Long-time reader, first time commenter. I disagree with you. The entire time he was Governor he was lying to his wife. If he’ll lie to her, what else did he lie about? Actors can be as dirtbaggy as they want, but Governors should be held to a higher standard. Before you wave Bill & Monica at me, please remember that blow-jobs do not produce children who have to now carry this scandal as his origin legend for the rest of his life.

I think John Edwards is probably a better comparison. It ended his political career and this will probably end Arnold’s, but since it was over anyway, there’s little to be gained by his public evisceration.
As for the child who “has to carry this scandal for the rest of his life” I just hope he gets his share of the loot. Fair’s fair.
Arnold is so virile she probably got pregnant just from changing his sheets.
We’re not giving Mrs. Schwarzeneggar enough credit. Wives aren’t stupid. I’ll wager she knew more than she let on until the timing was least damaging.
