The Great Seal

Sometimes, I totally let the picture choose the story.  That is to say, I don’t think it matters a damn if Chris Christie joins the Republican race.  As I said the other day about Sarah Palin, in a comment somewhere, the circus already has plenty of clowns, one or two more won’t make any difference.

Somebody throw that great seal a fish

But, it’s a slow news day and I saw this picture.  A standard podium portrait, indeed, but when I saw it I thought it was a joke about Christie’s weight -doesn’t he just look like he’s ready to balance a ball on his nose, clap his flippers and catch a big, flying raw fish in his eager, upturned mouth?

It does say something about the Republican party, that they just won’t let the rumors die.  The article I read should have been entitled “Christie continues to give no indication whatsoever that he’s planning to run for President,” but that wouldn’t have had the same pizzazz.  So, David Gerson, who was somebody not terribly important in the Bush administration, saw Christie talking with some Republican bigshots in Chicago, and immediately reached the conclusion that he’s still thinking about it.

It seems as if the Republicans (I am talking now of the wine wing of the party, not the beer wing) aren’t happy with Perry.  And there is some reason to believe that they brought in Perry because they were dissatisfied with Bachmann.  And don’t even get them started on Ron Paul.  I can’t understand why that wing of the party isn’t ecstatic about Romney, he’s an arrogant  aristocrat, and plutocrat, just like them.  But they’re not.

So, they want Christie on board.   President Taft is looking down and smiling.

In other news about possible candidacies in the Guns’n’Jesus party, Sarah Palin was supposed to announce whether she was running or not in a speech yesterday, but she didn’t.  No surprise, there.

Oh, and you can click here, if you want to see something really funny.

  1. We feel that a Romney/Cain Presidency is still the best option of the current field. Christie might be tough, Palin glib, Perry shooting from the hip, but what we need now is a level headed, free enterprise, get back to work presidency. The rest of what people seem to be looking for in a candidate is mere window dressing. We’ve had enough window dressing in the current presidency and Congress to last a lifetime. We urge all to join in supporting Romney/Cain in 2012! — Dr. & Mrs. Max Chartrand

  2. Is Romney/Cain anything like novacaine?

I would not support a Romney/Cain candidacy, nor any other of the republicans as they are all nutty as fruitcakes.
