There is No Such Thing as a Good Republican

I was just reading a particularly obnoxious editorial over at the Huffington Post, which said “Will a serious Republican candidate please step forward?”

Worst Game Show Ever

The writer lamented what a miserable field the current candidates are (which is certainly true) and then said wouldn’t it be nice if somebody “serious” like Jeb Bush or Paul Ryan would get into the race.  What a retard.  (I read another article over there the other day, saying we should all talk nicer to each other.  Well, fuck that.  Anybody who wants another Bush as president is either a retard or worse, because the only other possibility is that he’s such a stonehearted, evil motherfucker that he truly enjoys mass murder, torture, maiming and imprisonment of innocent people and prays every day for the war that will end the world to hurry up and get here, already)

Each of the current Republican candidates has their own uniquely negative attributes – Michelle Bachmann has her crazy eyes, her unwavering belief that Jesus speaks directly through her, and her quite likely gay husband; Rick Perry is basically letting his state burn to the ground; Herman Cain? Oh, boy, would I love to see a Cain/Obama election; Ron Paul is anti-war and pro-pot legalization which, admittedly, would be tempting to a lot of Obama’s base voters but, like Cain and Fred Karger, he is just in the wrong party; Mitt Romney, the middle class multi-millionaire who thinks corporations are people, too, and denies his own positions, is a Mormon.  There are a lot of evangelicals in the Republican party, and a lot of them hate Mormons almost as much as they hate blacks and gays, which is quite a lot; Gingrich is comical and Santorum is even more so.   But they all have one characteristic in common which makes them uniquely unqualified to be president.

They are Republicans.  They supported the policies that got the USA into the mess it’s in.  They are pro-war (with the exception of Paul, and he didn’t exactly leave the party over it), pro-torture and, above all, pro-rich.

Chris Christie is no different.  Jeb Bush, Paul Ryan or Marc Rubio is no different.  Even Michael Bloomberg is no different.  Maybe Buddy Roemer is different, but I doubt it.  He’s a Republican.

Any Republican who gets into the race will have a brief period of glowing praise from the main stream media, followed by an airing of old, smelly underwear (there’s this thing called the internet, see) and massive public revulsion.

Which is exactly as it should be.

Ron Paul is a Libertarian but the “founder” of the Tea Party movement… which pretty much makes him a Republican by mistake. He would probably win in an election against Obama if he was not a creationist and not pro-choice. He’s unpredictable… that is… I don’t know what he would ACTUALLY do if elected and I don’t know what the consequences would be to some of his ideas. He has some crazy ideas like “make heroin legal, you and I are not going to use it.” Which is all fine and dandy until Monsanto patents it and uses it as a food additive…. but whatever… maybe it would be less of a police state… Hard to say.

    I meant to say pro-life.

  3. Ron Paul is definitely the odd man out in the bunch. Nonetheless, still a Republican.
