The Occupy Wall Street protests have been amazingly peaceful, all things considered. Despite the police regularly herding people into nets like fish and then arresting them, wading into crowds and swinging their batons indiscriminately, pepper spraying people who were already

confined or, in some cases, already handcuffed, the protesters themselves have been pretty darned well behaved.
I was watching some video the other night of the protests in my home town (Des Moines, Iowa) and it seemed to be mostly elderly women. Not really the type you want to have on your side in a riot.
In fact, despite the facts that the protests have been going on for over a month, have spread to over 900 cities and involve many thousands of people, they have sparked less mayhem than the fans of many major league teams just after they blew a big game.
Then, Glenn Beck comes on TV the other day to say “Capitalists, if you think you can play footsies with these people, you’re wrong. They will come for you and drag you into the streets and kill you.”
As much as I might fantasize about guillotines, cheering mobs and a long line of people including (but not limited to) Beck, Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Sean Hannity,Rick Perry, Scott Walker, Paul LePage, the Koch Brothers, Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina, Dick Cheney, pretty much everybody named Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Rick Scott, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Mary Matlin (sorry, James Carville, but you’ll be better off, believe me), Rupert Murdoch, Jimmy O’Keefe wearing a pimp suit, Sharon Angle and, in a special place of honor, America’s toughest Sheriff Joe Arpaio, I don’t expect it to happen any time soon and wouldn’t actually suggest it seriously.
But Glenn Beck just did. All I can say is, Glenn, don’t give us any ideas.
