Halloween

Just got back from a Halloween party, and it  was great.  Just 6 kids, and a few parents.  Of course, it was a bit different than Halloweens  I knew as a child.  Partly because I’m in Prague, and the kids don’t just   go door to  door trick or   treating and get candy   at every house, popcorn balls,

caramel apples, candy corn  and more, running from porch to porch to try and get just as much candy as possible.  If you knocked on a total stranger’s door  wearing a mask    and holding out a bag demanding candy, they’d probably call the police.

I’m not sure quite what it’s like in the States any more, but I’m pretty sure the kids don’t go out unaccompanied, roaming  randomly in the neighborhood of night.

One  other big thing that’s changed now, though, is that Halloween, which was totally a kid’s holiday when I was a kid is now a really  great holiday for adults.  I’m either the luckiest guy who ever lived or we just truly are the most selfish generation ever to inhabit this fine earth.

I love dressing up in a costume.  It allows for so much comedic leeway.  A couple of years ago I picked up a gorilla mask at a street fair really cheap, and that has been my costume since.

Next Halloween, I   think  I need to try something new.  There I was, laying  in wait, in my gorilla suit.  The kids approached down the spookily lit  corridor.  I jump out, beating my chest and going ooo, ooo, ooo like crazy and Sam says “that’s my daddy.”  Spoiled the whole effect.

Maybe you could get a Darren Huff mask and a pink dildo…

Wait – that could be a little extreme.
