Be Wary, Be Wary of Dennis Terry

I don’t know who’s going to win in the Illinois primary tonight – the smart money’s on Romney and I’m not going to dispute them, this time around – but, win or lose, the Santorum campaign has jumped the shark: watch the videos here.

Dear God, Please Help Us Elect Rick Santorum so he can kick all the Buddhists out of the country

If I didn’t know the guy was a genuine Christian evangelical wackadoodle preacher, I would think he was a hysterical parody of a Christian evangelical wackadoodle preacher.

Sure, a politician can get away with slandering Islam,  and even his obvious contempt for the Jews doesn’t bother too many in the crowd, although I can’t figure out how they all are fanatically pro-Israel while obviously anti-semitic.  I guess it’s the whole rapture thing.  But saying he’d like to kick all the Buddhists out of the country is fucking weird.  What’s any Buddhist ever done to him?

Anyway, up to now, I’ve found this rapture talk mildly humorous.  If somebody really believes it, well, I just give them a wide berth, because they are fucking nuts.  I’m not terribly concerned about it, because they can no more bring about the Rapture than I can produce the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus.  The real ones, I mean.

What I’m starting to worry about now, after listening to this guy, is that maybe, in their misguided efforts to bring about the Rapture, they will bring about WWIII.  Their devotion and fanaticism is matched only by their ignorance of the world and, in fact, their own religion.

So, will it kill Santorum’s campaign?  I doubt it.  The story seems to be slipping down the page already.  If he wins Illinois tonight, he’s got a real good shot at the nomination, which gives him a theoretical 50/50 chance of being the next president.

But expect this tape to be played over and over again if he does.  Partly because it’s funny.  But mostly because it’s scary as hell.

This kind of ‘religious vigor’ is what has fueled most wars, at least it was used as an ‘excuse’ to start and continue wars waged by most countries. Until all myths are dispelled, such wars will continue. Science and logic and mutual respect for all humans must be taught before such ‘religious wars’ will be prevented in all nations. Religious institutions are wealthy and control the minds, hearts and money of those who do not think for themselves because they have been taught not to do so. These tax-exempt institutions now control the social system, structure, assistance or lack of assistance to those in need. They justify this by saying they need to speak ‘face to face’ with each person to see if the needs are justified ‘in their eyes’ and if the person ‘is worthy’. So, they prevent equal and fair distribution of services. They are inherently prejudice. So sad….. They killed my son because they did not understand that he was sick, not ‘bad’, all his life.

    fanatically pro-Israel
    because they’re even more anti-“muslin”
recall Reagan helped arm Khomeini et all fanatical Iranian Islamics, because… Khomeini (supposedly?) disliked some other enemy that was already collapsing.
whack a mole is tougher (and profitable) when they keep generating the next mole.
