First of all, RIP Nora Ephron. I wasn’t super familiar with her work, but “When Harry Met Sally” is one of the greatest films of all time, it was incredibly funny at moments but it was, overall, a very intelligent commentary on male-female relationships. That right there puts her in the Pantheon of all-time great screenwriters.
Second, I sure hope Robert Reich is right, that the Supreme Court will uphold Obamacare 6-3, but I think he overestimates Roberts and Kennedy. They are just as corporate-friendly as Alito, Scalia and Thomas, just perhaps a little bit less Neanderthal, and I think it will go 5-4 against, because they couldn’t give a shit what anybody thinks. But I hope he’s right and I’m wrong.
But third, and most importantly, a bit of self-promotion. My latest book, “Uncle Willie’s Very Silly Animal Poems”, is available on Amazon. Illustrations by BooBoo.
A few examples:
Cows and Horses, Dogs and Cats
People, Sheep and Camels
all feed their babies on Mamma’s milk
and thus are known as mammals
and:
Koala Bears are very cute
and Panda Bears are, too
one lives on Eucalyptus leaves
the other on bamboo
this is just to let you know
if you were unaware
the lovable Koala
Is not, in fact, a bear
See, informative and everything. The drawings are great. Makes a great gift for kids, or people who like animals, or people who don’t really like animals very much at all, for that matter.
One more, as a closing thought for the day:
If Dinosaurs had never disappeared
life on Earth would be a little weird
we complain about traffic, rain and taxes
but we don’t have to deal with Tyrannosaurus Rexes
Love your poems. Sounds as good as Dr. Seuss, which my kids loved.
thanks!
