I’m not sure what is the ugliest part of the Romney tapes – the video and audio which was secretly taped at a Romney fund raiser in May and has now come out, thanks to Mother Jones.
That lame joke about how he’d have a better chance of getting elected if he was a Latino got a real good laugh because, as all rich white people know, the Mexicans get all the breaks. I’m not sure whether to be more disgusted with Romney or his audience on that one, as they feed each other in a non-stop loop of wealthy, privileged individuals reassuring each other that they are really the group that is persecuted.
The business about how there will never be peace in the Middle East because the Palestinians don’t want it will probably not lose him too many votes, because Jewy Joe Lieberman and the Likud wing of the Republican party will lap it up, and the Palestinian lobby in American politics is pretty weak. Nonetheless, it was a particularly blatant blend of racism and defeatism.
His nostalgic reminiscences of touring a Chinese sweat shop, where the conditions were close enough to slavery that they were tempting the legal definition, comes across as the ignorant rambling of an arrogant American tourist, but that by itself won’t cost him the election. It was in China, and that’s really far away.
Most people are latching on to Mitt’s observation that 47% of the American people are welfare loafers who just drink Colt 45s and drive around in their welfare Cadillacs all the time. It’s insulting and offensive, but it won’t cost him any votes because his base totally believes it.
For me, though, the worst comment was the one that came right after that. “…Who (still talking about the lower 47%) believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing.”
The nerve of those people! To think they are entitled to food!
It is beyond an entitlement, Mitt. You are talking about basic human needs. In the case of food, a biological need. People who don’t get enough food can actually die. What Mitt doesn’t understand is that that is a bad thing.

I so agree. Mitt not only wants the ‘undesirables’ to ‘die’, but to ‘die quickly’. Food, healthcare and shelter is only for those approved by Mitt and Republicans, according to Mitt. This might also help explain Mitt’s Foreign Policy, which I dread to see in action.
Hey Uncle Willie, I am really enjoying your posts. From one expat to another I am just glad I don’t have his face in my face every time I turn around. Ick! Surely he could never get elected right?!?….. But look at the rich idiot they elected TWICE! I’ve got my fingers crossed and my absentee ballot on its way. =)
Thanks for the reminder, I should send my ballot in soon, too.
