Mitt the Monster

One reason Romney’s post debate surge will fade is that, in between the debates, he still has to campaign, make speeches and stuff, and he trips over his own words almost every day.  Not surprising, he has left so many different positions and statements lying on the floor, it’s like a garage filled with tangled hoses.  He’s bound to trip over something.

But there are two things I read about today which really cemented the image of Mitt Romney as an inhuman monster in my eyes.

First, there is this story.

I won’t belabor the point too long here.  The mother of Glen Doherty, a Navy Seal who was killed in the attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi, doesn’t want Romney using her son’s name in his campaign speeches.  She probably doesn’t want anybody else politicizing his death, either.  So, just go read the article, especially the part where Doherty’s friend points out that Mitt is even lying  about the meeting between them.

Then, and I think even worse, there is this.  It’s kind of an old story, but I’d never heard it before so I’m guessing many of you hadn’t either.  Also, in this case, the principal character is still alive, no thanks to Mitt Romney, and perfectly willing to talk about it.  It’s a story about Mitt Romney, in his role as a big cheese of the Mormon religion.  The lady in the story, Carrel Hilton Sheldon, was two months pregnant with her 5th child.  Her doctor told her she should have an abortion or there was a real good chance she would die.  Mitt Romney’s superior in the church, obviously a less religious man than Mitt Romney, recommended she listen to her doctor.  Later, and uninvited, Mitt showed up in her hospital room.

He told her she shouldn’t have the abortion.  Life is sacred and he, as an LDS Bishop, he had to take the  side of the unborn baby.  Basically, he sat by  Carrel Sheldon’s bedside and told her he thought she should just suck it up and die; that God wanted her to die.

It’s not a nice thing to  say.  It’s not a nice thing to believe.  Mitt Romney is not a nice man.
